My group overall made two main idea's, as presesented above in the slide share link. We did have other idea's such as making a a short film about a young couple in love, and the film would show their complications of love by including Todorov's theory of equilibrum, disequilibrum and equilibrum but for what we had planned was too difficult and unrealistic in our own minds. We had planned to make the love story about someone who fell in love abroad and the film was about their sruggle of getting back to eachother but unfortunatly missing each other, but we would have had to included shots of airports and places abroad for this to happen, which would have been far too difficult to carry out. Our other idea was to make a music video with the same idea as the film, but instead of falling in love aborad, that it would just be two people finding love at first sight somewhere busy like Newcastle, but we found that it would be difficult to film crowds of people in shopping centre's as we would have to get permission to film, so we decided to not go any further with this idea.
My groups first idea was to do a music video about equality of sexual orientation. We thought that this would be a really good idea as this has became a recent event for most people so we thought it would be good to relate to society nowerdays. Our idea was to include footage from the Gay Pride parade that happeneds every year in Newcastle, and to include our friends who are also gay, lesbian, straight and bisexual. We thought this would be really good because it would be real footage reflecting on the real parade with real gay/straights and not actors pretending. Our idea's for the song was to either have Macklemore's Same Love -- because of the obvious sexual orientation within the song, or to have Demi Lovato's I Really Don't Care, because in her music video, Demi and her band are on a moving platform in the middle of a Gay Parade in a different counrty, and she includes close ups of gays, straights, lesbains and transvestites singing into the camera and also showing same sex kissing. This was actually where we got our inspiration from. We had thought for out locations, we could show Newcastle City Centre and other street views of the public walking past, with possible close ups on people holding hands and cuddling in public.
Our second idea was to do a scary horror trailer for a movie. We thought that this could be a good idea as was liked the idea of making a trailer because we agreed that it would be better than making a short film. We decided a trailer because we thought that we would be able to capture the same effect as a horror film, without giving too much information away such as the ending. We had loads of idea's for the trailer, and thought that we could start the trailer off with a police report on tv, about the Killer Clown and his first victoms that you typically get at the start of every horror film. We then thought that we should focus on a couple who live around the area of the clown's last appearence and so they put up security camera's to try protect themselves. We thought this might be a good idea as this meant that we could add in footage from a digital camera which seems to be very popular with recent horrorssuch as 'The Purge', and the collection of the 'Paranormal Activities'. We thought that our Killer Clown should have a homemade axe of some sort so that the weapon wouldnt actually be able to hurt anybody and therefore would be safe to film with. For locations, we thought that it would be good to set it in the country side, where one of the group members live, because it follows the typical horror movie theme of isolation, and not letting the victoms have any place to hide. We already have the casts for our trailer sorted as we were just going to use our friends with drama experiences. We thought that this might be better than just any body filling the characters because we want our trailer to look as good as possible. We also would like to add in background music after we have recorded everything to help the suspension of the film sound greater and also to get a few heart beats raised.
The responce we got after we presented our presentation to our classroom, agreed that the Killer Clown idea sounded more realistic to achieve and that it would be more interesting to do.
Leanne, your group has provided two realistic and achievable ideas; the horror / slasher genre is always popular, and your idea certainly has potential. The next step is to research the codes and conventions of the horror genre, as well as the trailer format, which should help to shape your own idea.
